I've seen several nice Lookouts out of Simmys.  I didn't know what their pedigrees were though.

Here is a Lookout x GCF MIiss Cayenne cow (Dream On x Zeis Miss Fortune). This is her second calf, he is an embryo (Steel Force x JS Lady 1U). She does a good job of raising a calf, that is why she is a recip.

Lightnin- here is a pic of the Macho x Dream On cow the heifer is out of. Lookout dropped the frame size just a touch and added depth of body. I wish i had some sexed heifer semen on the bull because i would use it on many. I have some BC Classic heifer semen but i dont think he's nearly the bull Lookout was.

Agreed, will make em deep and functional, decent look, moderate size, moderate width...good structure

That heifer looks really nice (as does her dam).  I've had a few Lookout calves out of my Angus cows.  I had twin bulls and twin heifers and one other heifer sired by him last year.  I had a bull calf the fall before that I cut because he was too small.  He was out of a big cow, but Lookout really downsized him.  I just sold him to someone for beef...he dressed at 527 lbs.

Thanks lightnin,  ya they are quite the pair,  side by side most of the time. I think it would be safe to say Lookout would work best on some above avg frame cows. Id like to see some out of some bigger maine cows as i havent personally seen any that direction.

wow.  if that's a recip, your donors must be nice.

I'll trade you a female that would be a great recip and I'll breed this cow.

Thanks guys! Believe it or not Knabe, we do not have any donors, though several people have told us we need to flush a few. We tried a flush this fall, but it did not turn out (12 unfertilized eggs). We buy good genetics and put those eggs in. Not a single embryo born on our place is out of one of our cows. That is how we have made some really huge improvements over the last few years. ALL of my two year olds get an embryo, unless they are the top few females. We seem to have the best of luck with them sticking (we put in three in the fall, all stuck, all two year olds raising their first calves). We seem to be good at producing male embryo calves, so they get sold at breeding age (or as steers). We have only had ONE female embryo, and she is not going ANYWHERE! She is just a March born, so we have not bred her yet. Anyway, thanks for the compliments. Not all of our girls look that good.  (lol) Maybe the Lookout genetics help her keep her chubby features, since she has never looked thin a day in her life!
