cottonseed meal is a protein supplement.  41% protien.  You would be better off feeding more med. quality grass hay than the meal.

Ok I gotcha. Ive never had to do this so newbie here on this. If I do a 50/50 mixture of beet pulp. One steer at 26lbs a day other at 22lbs. 24 lbs of beet pulp a day, basically $14 a day. I read that the "wet" weight of 1 lb of beet pulp is 4lbs? So on the steer thats 26lbs a day......i could feed 14lbs grain mxture and 3 lbs of beet pulp and that would equate to 26lbs correct?

You can't use cotton seed meal in place of cottonseed hulls. Not even close to each other in nutritional values. You cannot use a wet feed weight either. You'll need to use as fed or better yet dry matter bases. JMO, but I think that you should try to find a beef nutritionist in your area to help you get started on the path to understanding rations feeding requirements of cattle.
