Best bull in each breed

Pretty much just we have had good success with Double Stuff influenced cows, and since that is only one I have had experience with I had to go with him because of personal experience. He might not be "Best overall" so he probably does not fit my list but I have not seen enough of other bulls calves or had another experience to change my mind. I will change my list since I have not had enough exposure to make a education answer.  <cowboy>

I was just wondering. For the clubby deal, Double Stuff is the founding father of Shorthorns in the modern era.  He was the first bull that I can remember to have that modern clubby "look".  Trump himself was nothing very special as a calf or even a yearling, but his calves sure have written some history in the last 20 years.  I think those bulls were actually born the same year too. How fitting haha.  Heck, put em both on the list, seeing as how this is a club calf forum for the most part anyhow.

Note: I was only 4 when these bulls were born, but I've had cattle out of both and can safely say they were both breed changers!

I'm not a fan of Lutton.  Never used him and never will.  It takes too many to get a good one and then you still have to pray that the good one holds together.  I would use Northern Improvemvent over him any day.

Remitall Keynote is the most dominant Hereford bull ever. Not even close...

Prob gonna take some heat on this, but I would say Wyoming Wind is not the best bull ever in the breed.  Granted he did some things right, and had cattle that won allot of shows, and he was a breed changer, But was he a breed changer in the right ways.  He moderated cattle, and refined the charolais breed, He made them WHITE ANGUS.  no offense to the angus breeders, but we are two different breeds.  Now today we as breeders are trying to find a bull to put muscle and bone and a decent foot back on all of the wind bred cattle.

My charolais vote would be Cigar.  His daughters will leave a lasting effect on the breed.  He added muscle, and complimented it with plenty of style, that also won allot of shows.

Thanks for input Aussie, did not do red angus because have never used the breed. Will be using first red angus bull this spring and that will be Fat Tony to the heifer in my avatar.

Pretty impressive bull, Im sticking with Wyoming Wind though haha

We've never had a problem with small feet or light muscle on wind cattle, in fact we had to widen several chutes and alleys for the wind calves

Cigar is a great bull but what about his sire LHD Mr Perfect?  I literally can go around the world and find his influence.  A true improver that found welcome in many different programs and conditions.

X - Bred      Full Flush  And heck since i am going old school how about Sugar Ray any body remember him.  There are a number of bulls and cows that are still getting it done that go back to one or the other or both.

Aussie. I'm going to have to disagree with you on the R A picks. I'm not a fan of the K R daughters udders and structure, MMD can get a little fine boned for me. Rambo 502? RW

I have to agree with HF that CIGAR is a great bull ,either second or third in the breed,he adds muscle but like a lot of bulls that do he also adds chance of calving
trouble and he just don't have the overall smoothness and fertility that WYOMING WIND AND UNLIMITED EASE .    Some of the Cigar females if mated right are just outstanding ,I have ten units of Cigar semen and have not used it yet  just because Wyo-Wind works on most any cow ...The combination of these two bulls is proably the mating I will go with ....and I think the Cigar bull has some merit for breeding club calf moma's ......

Angus --CONNEALYS DATELINE ---has done great things in the right places .
        --B/R NEW FRONTIER 095 -one of the most consistant sires in all phases of the cattle industry ,if my memory is right he has a little Dateline influence on
 mothers side .....

I would not argue with you RW as you have forgoten more than I will know about RA.  <beer>

The bulls I listed in RA appear in most pedigrees here. There is hardly a heifer not bred to MMD or son of here for years it seems. But you are right lots of use does not mean a good one.
I will stand by my black picks and stick to what I know. (lol)
