I have two steers with fantastic hair quality. I was wondering if anyone knew what the best way was to keep their hair in great shape in such a hot summer. I normally get calves later on and have never had to deal with this problem. As of right now they are rinsed everyday. Then blown dry and I spray a sheen vinegar mix conditioner on them and comb it in. They stand tied to let it dry in good. Both are inside in full shade, however they are not in a cooler room. Thanks for the help :)

Air movement. I also used a misting system from Ebay that can drop the temp immediately. hooked it up to an ice cooler with cold water. Ran the misters around the pens and fans ran 24 x 7. When you are done rinsing, condition and blowing rice root all helps with keeping good quality hair. it is difficult to get as much hair as a "cooler" calf, but you can get good hair by daily rinsing adn fans. Dark room, minimal sunlight, you may have to rinse three four times a day as the temps get hotter. If you have an open area you are keeping them in. Tarp it as shade can drop the temperature itself. Not sure if this helps.JMHO
