Best Simmental Bulls right now

I was going to cross some of my cows to a simmental bull and was wondering what PB simi everyone liked. Besides 734. Thanks for your help.

Best Simmental bull as in, what traits are you looking to pass onto your cows?

My intent is similar to yours. I have nothing set in stone, but have heard good things about Rendition, Built Right,Goldmine and Burning Up. I won't steal your post, but would like to know what others think. Earl

rendition all the way...  If I had simi's, i'd prob breed everything to him...  Seen him, he's the real deal- Best purebred bull in Denver last year- likely the best bull IMO...  As a plus, he grew up less than an hour from me...  Could be a little partial, cuz we're good friends, but setting it all aside, he's still a smoking good bull who has been making good calves from Angus, and Simi cows...

If they didn't have any Dream On influence, I'd use some of him too!  But If I had simi's, chances are I'd already have used D.O.

Another newbie to keep an eye on and ear to the ground for is Jade's Dreamworks.  Cows bred to him, and calves sired by him were HOT at the Triple C dispersal.  He may end up being a dud, but there is some potential for greatness with the combination of Dream On and 734.

What kind of cows do you have?(what breeds)

lots of nice bulls out there, like previously said what kind of cows you got to use em on depends on the type of bull

-Dream on, definately a staple of simmi breed right now, everyone uses it on everything and i guess it works b/c people buy em
- In Dew Time- through stouter featured bulls than DO, so the bulls and heifers are nice, my bets in two years he will be the #1 used simmi bull in the breed. breed ALL my percentage simiis to him this year and a hand full the PB ( rest of the PB got Duff New Edition)
- GCF Amigo- yet another DO, loved this bull, b/c he's super functional being sound, big ribbed, lots of flesh and stout as hell. going to use him this next year, GCF had some nice progeny on there sale last month too.
- Built right- throws alot of balance, level deisgn and some style in cattle, i like the good ones, problem may be some are too small when used on the wrong cow, plus he won't throw base width or power, but i really like the style and feminity in the females, using a BR bull for clean up this next spring.
-Rendition- agreed, this bull is pretty dang good, like to see some calves b4 i make a final judgement.
- Macho- great son of 734, use him the same way as 734 on agnus cows, don't use on stout heavy muscled cattle b/c they will be so tight out the hip and post legged and poor structured, throws great style and symetry like 734 did, watch out for scurs too.
-JS Burning up- really good pedigreee and dang good bull, the females are a little late blooming but when they come on really really turn it on.has a nice front end, could use a little more body in the calves, but it comes later. throws really nice calves,  has scurs tho , D Zeis has a full sib that is homoblack and homopolled if color and scurs bother ya
- Mo better/ Mo Town- won't fix "simmi" front ends but will throw lots of rib shape and depth, really like the "production look" the heifers got and the their usually stout boned, i have seen a few sons that look intereesting like mo magic and others.
-Maximus- (%?)- throws some super stout thick ended and big ribbed cattle, when used on simmis won't probably get a great front end, but a great breeding peice bull or heifer wise


Hope this helps, been with simmis for quite a while and been succcessfull, sometimes it comes down to the type of cow used to pic a specific simmi bull,

Depends on your objectives and your cows.  We have had good luck with GW Lucky Man, Mo Better, Trademark, In Dew Time, Macho and of course Dream On.  There are lots of good Simmy bulls out there.  Just need to match them to the cows.  Our commercial bull buyers want pounds with no problems and the kids buying show animals are more interested in looks.  Different strokes for different customers.

Yep! that's the one.  I know the breeder. Suess bought the bull, sold 1/2 to Conely, and then when Hartman wanted in, they  split the deal into thirds. With Hartman leading the promotion, expect lots of publicity.  

Thanks for everyones posts. very helpful. I am going to breed my Limi, maine and crossbreds to Simi bulls this year. My limis all have good front ends and are feminine cows, but need a little more power and I want to keep the BW at a reasonable level. Looking to have some 1/2 blood replacements and maybe a low percentage heifer to show.

The Ebonys Grandmaster bull that Select Sires carries seems to be getting quite a bit of attention this fall. The Hill Country Cattle site has many pics of projeny. His number/EPDs look really good and he is not Dream On. The Savvy bull seems to be throughing some really good ones as well.

We had some Savvys, they are nice. Don't look at them hard till 4-6 months. then they really come on.

I have some Star power yearlings, and am very pleased with them. Very stout, thick, nice fronted heifers. Star Power probably won't add depth, but it's adequate for me. Not sure that he would moderate birth weights on continental cows, but I'll probably use him again this year.

I have some In Dew Time's that are a month old right now, really like the look of them. They don't really overwhelm you with anything particular, but so far they are good, hard to find a hole in them and will use him again this year. I attached a pic of my favorite IDT heifer at this point.

I talked to my Simmental guru yesterday about bulls to AI to this year and SAS T101 Sweet Meat was highly recommended. He's an In Dew Time son that is siring calves that have more power to them. I think I'm going to give him a try.

id say dream on, built right, or dream catcher. 

If a guy could get some Galant semen. I'd say use him. He's the wrong color and everything else...but he could blow 90% of the blacks right out of the water.jmo ps his registration number is 10.

I have some Galant semen. not sure how many amps come in a cane, but I have two canes of him.
