I had a Walks Alone heifer last year out of a 1600 pound good sized Strictly Business x Draft Pick cow. The heifer came out thick as all be. She has been shown all year as a market heifer, her problem is she is super short (height wise).  She is great besides that. I have seen a few BIM's the past few weeks and they got some frame to them. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. I was thinking, what is everyones opinion on me breeding the cow to BIM. Do you think I would get more frame out of that calf? Thanks for any opinions

I'd say breed the cow to heat wave, there is just not enough to those BIM calves. Walks alone is way better bull.

personally I always have and will continue to stay away from Heat Wave. If I got a heifer, I would classify her a throw away. JMO

And you wouldn't a walks alone? Heat waves have a purpose these days in the club calf world. I would keep a heat wave heifer over many of his sons.

yes I would keep a walks alone before heat wave because of the draft pick on the bottom side. From what I have heard about heat waves mother, she looks like an over-fat showsteer and cant milk, this is JMO. didnt say you had to agree, I am sure I have cows out of different bulls and you have cows out of different bulls. Doesnt mean either one of us is wrong. Personally, the only cow I have in my herd with Heat Wave in her is my donor cow which is a Monopoly. besides her, I dont have any and will probably keep it that way.

What did you ever end up breeding your monop donor to? I know you had asked what to use on her, just wondering what you went with.

We went with Jesse James on her. I wanted to go Boomer on her and thats why I asked because I never really have bred to anything of Bushy Park, but we ended up going Jesse James

So she has yet to produce anything noteworthy for you, yet but she's your bonafide donor cow. Putting the cart before the horse?

Mother at 16 years of age sold for 15k. averages 19 eggs a flush and is owned by Hanewich who calles her one of the best cows in the country. Then she is out of Monopoly, one of the greatest sires of all times. So Yeah I am putting the cart before the horse, but I am willing to take my chances. Also, if you saw her, You woud agree also. Thank You for your input  <beer>

What else would you expect Hanewich to say about"his" donor & not all Monoplies turn out great just B/C they are sired by Monopoly. On the other hand I love your spirit and enthusiasm!! If you didn't believe in your own cow, who would? Good luck with her, I hope she does better than you wish.

Back to the BIM vs. Walks question, I think that BIM. will sire better calves than WA. We'll see more BIM. calves this year & get a better picture. BIM. himself is a better balanced, smoother made & jointed bull than WA. JMO.
