I thought it woule be a whiteface! It looks os cute! It is so hard to tell early on, but give it a little time and I bet you will like it! Does your cow or Fat butt go back to any older genetics? If so, that could have been where the chrome came from. Our old herd bull goes back to some really old genetics just a generation or so back, and when he is mated to somr of our cows with older genetics in them, we get Fleck marked cattle and some chrome. Our cattle are mostly black, and our bull is a whiteface, but we see the chrome and traditional Fleck a fair amount. Congrats on your baby calf! I bet she will turn out good! :)  <party>

Well if my memory serves me correct Buck had quite a bit of white and he's in Fat Butt , this is by far the most painted calf this cow has thrown. Rumor has it I will like the calf when it gets older , we shall see as this cow has never missed.

Pics look great, neat marked calf.  I have two females we are considering breeding to Fat Butt, one is a Power Drive baldy!  My concern was the amount of white, but I think I will just take a chance and see what happens.  Also have an Invasion x Kandy Kisses donor that we are considering flushing to Fat Butt.  She is solid black.  I appreciate the tread and the pics, helped me confirm my breeding plans!

She has more white than I thought she would being out of Fat Butt, you sure you used the rite straw? LOL. She will be a nice cow and will probably produce some nice calves of her own. I have a 734 daughter that is white faced with the traditional white marking of 734 who we bred to Fat Butt and is do this coming Spring in April, will show pics when that calf gets here. I need a good clean up bull that has a maternal side, so I already decided when this calfs gets here, I'm keeping it as if it is a heifer I will keeping it for future breeding stock and if it is a bull I will keep it for my future clean up bull as I have been using my neighbor's Maine bull as a clean up for now. Congrats on the calf.

that calf is marked just like that old bull Buck was;
I am really disappointed with so much white like that.  In our country, the commercial guys would never buy a bull with so much white; white on legs is very bad when it comes to marketing.

I had two Cut Above calves last spring; one out of a solid black cow is a pretty little baldy and the other out of a half simm/angus cow, blaze face herself is a solid black blaze face, so I was not aware that he could chrome them up this much.  The calf out of the half Simmi/angus cow was champ breeding calf at our county fair and he will be heavy in the hunt for bull calf champ at our state fair; he is prob the best bull calf we have ever raised.....a tank, very deep, very thick but the cow he is out of never ever misses...just like yours.

Yes I used the right straw , I still have the left over part of it ! And yes Buck in Fat Butts pedigree is who and what I'm saying the color comes from. My memory was correct I guess.

Just to add , this cow had zero bull exposure so the calf is a Fat Butt. She calved 2 days after her AI due date so there is no question there.

you live in south dakota if you raise clubbys most pepole like white legs if your selling for beef idk why but they dont i like white legs my mom does my siblings do the pepole we show with do the younger boy we just got into it loves shorties and the neighbors got black and white milkers haha

i think if an average calf has white legs or markings it will sell better than an average calf with black legs and no markings  jmo tho

ps bulls promoted like salty dog , paint ball , the hangover , true grit , man amongs boys, grey goose, chill factor , cunia , meyer 734 , bodacious , long time coming , and many more

Looks like a happy little pair you have there.  I am curious, how far back does chrome go on the dam side of the heifer?  At times if you stack up a few generations of baldy/chrome you will see a really shiny one come out and with Fatt Butts ability to throw the bald face, it could be the reason.

Well I'm gonna have to admit I think in the end I'm really gonna like her ! I'm kinda the chrome type of guy anyway , not on all of them but I've gotta have a few around. I was pretty skeptical at first but I'm starting to have a good feeling. You know if she just had black around both eyes I think most would love her , can we really not like a calf for something so minor as that ??? I'm in this simmy deal because I grew up in it and love it , and that's the bottom line !

No i let her go at around 700 lbs. She had the bone and was also great on her feet with good hair,  but she was so low headed and i didnt care for her. I've seen others by him kinda the same way.
