What you guys aren't adding into the equation is that Blaze of Glory isn't the first good calf out of the 143 cow. They've sold numerous high selling and champion progeny out of these genetics. I realize this was one of the first walks alones out of her, but the heat wave line has flat clicked on her. That $40,000 baldy steer in iowa did a lot of winning for example. So its not like this would be a shot in the dark, there is a history of good calves in this genetic line. Just my two cents. I understand the risks, and I think the buyers in the sale do as well.

It is not outrageous if someone is willing to pay, and since it was an auction and the bidders bid that much, I guess they were willing to pay.
And what if? He turns out to throw awesome calves, (the next big thing) the people holding the semen or the calves will get their money back and more.
If not, the price they are paying for calves at the sales yard will still cover their cost. I have seen a several of the calves out of the cow, they are good and just get better with time.

ya see if the people who bought the semen didnt have the right cows to work with the bull, then they will just let the semen sit there and never use it.  and then they will want to say that they have the semen.  it will probably be like meyer 734. everybody has like 5-10 straws but nobody will use it because they want to say that they have it.

I am sure that is why most people bought it "so they can say they have it" . ???
I can say I have it, without spending the money to actually have it.
My guess on the Meyer semen is, you know what you have and you sure in the heck want to be right when you use it. You could consider Meyer an investment, it does not seem to go down in price.
Blaze of Glory, more of a gamble, but I bet they get more out of it than most got out of their last Mega Millions ticket.

I don't know about all those who bought the semen, but since Chris Polzin has a pretty well-known embryo center, I would bet he isn't going to just sit on it.
