sorry I did not see this until this morning.

We have had good luck with putting a bloat block in the pen, and letting them have free access to it.  I put a block in as soon as I see a mild bloat.  Never had a severe bloat.  How's your calf?

hope your steer is better, my sons steer has bloated 3 times this yr, as soon as i see it, I drench him with a bottle of bloat drench from either Sullivan's or tractor supply, and then walk him around for about 30 mins. and it goes away. Then I just make sure he has hay. Also I use a product called "ProBios" and that puts the "Bugs" back in. Luckily it hasn't came back, yet. Good luck.
