If you have a short hose and he is in distress stick the hose down his throat and let him down. It is very easy to do and it is an instant fix. For long term vita - ferm works great to keep them from bloating again especially if they become a cronic bloater. Hope this helps

There are alot of reasons for bloat. Is he bloated all the time? Is this an isolate incident? Is he off feed? If this is isolated and he is pretty miserable you may want to consult a vet they can relieve pressure. If it is a chronic problem there are a few things that can help.
We had a steer last year that every time he ate he would bloat. What we discovered after talking to a nutrionist was he would drink water, eat feed and like the mineral block all at the same time. We have high amount of sulfur in our water. The mineral block would react with feed and water and cause bloat. Once we removed the block and let them have it in between feeds only it reduced the amount of bloat considerablely. You can also feed free choice grass hay. Nothing too hot just plain grass hay. It keeps their rumen going. Probio's are great and should be used periodically to keep a healthy stomach.

Bloat can also be related to respiratory disease as well. It's not understood, but fairly common. If he has been coughing or is running a fever I would suggest antibiotics to treat the respiratory illness and the bloat should subside. If this is the case I would suspect the bloat isn't consistent.. how often is it happening?
