Is BoSe illegal to give to a show calf?  I have a monopoly heifer that was just born but I think she is starting to turn out in the front.  I have used BoSe before, but heard it was illegal to use, for show calves.  I live in ohio and most likely the heifer will be sold for ohio shows, i just don't want to do anything illegal.  I thought monopolies were suppose to have good feet anyway, the cow is.  Thanks in advance.

NO its not illegal, start her on shots and keep at it til she comes out of it. As for Mono I think the juries still out on his daughters, although I just read on an earlier thread their only good as terminals.

Don't know about Ohio but since it is the FDA i would assume  Not Approved For Cattle means you to.  Now is it legal or illegal ???

I must be missing something Rackranch, where does it say not approved for cattle. I have just looked over the box & bottle and it doe not say that anywhere. I fact it is on the list of shots that is recommended by my vet.

Never heard of using BoSe for structural issues... What is the theory on why it would work? We have used it for years on newborn calves because of the lack of selenium in the soil here in Ohio. It is recommended from the vet. If a calf is slow to get going or doesn't seem to be as energetic after about four weeks we will give the calf another shot. Interested in why it would work for structure problems...

I am no expert, but it doesn't work on structure problems per say, but a selenium defeciency will cause structural issues and it will work on that or that is my understanding anyway.  Not sure why someone would think there is anything illegal about it, but that is not correct.

I think the most common place BoSe is used is in the big dumby newborn calves that won't stand & suck right away.    I've never heard of it being illegal.
