Bovine "Fart" Tax

Have you guys heard about the pending legislation on taxing ranchers with 50 or more head in their herd with an annual tax as high as $88 / head?  The EPA has classified cows as factories contributing to the global warming crisis.  I watched a news report on this last evening and it was quite disturbing to me.  This will have a significant impact on ranchers like myself in our annual operations where operating margins are already cut thin from declining beef prices and rising cost.

Yeah.. .this is B...S...!!!! All that this tax will do will place a greater burden on American Producers which may decrease production and shift the supply from American Beef to foreign beef. Then more cattle will be raised elsewhere where there is no tax enforced.What will the revenue received from this tax go toward? .....Alternative sources of Beef? This whole thing is stupid....just like the whole reguation of firearms, ammunition, and ethanol production. Doesn't the Obama administration have greater issuses to be dealing with...ie. the war that we are currently in. No, i guess not, he is mainly concerned about making his bracket for the NCAA tournament!

so is this tax suppose to keep cows from farting, even if cows do contribute to global warming, which i don't believe at all. how is any tax going to keep cows from contributing to global warming. this must be something that some city slicker dremt up.

Unlike other taxes or regulation that the government establishes on business, the cattle producer cannot "pass along" the increase to the consumer.  We are kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place!!

Can yall imagine what this will do to feedlots?  Heck, they ain't going to make $88 profit per head to begin with!!!

I wish there were a way to make the idiots on each coast (yes idiots) realize that their hairbrained ideas will affect real people, with real families, and make them lose their REAL jobs.  I'm really sick of reading about all the new ideas that the whackjobs in congress come up with, to help the environment by putting honest folks out of jobs.  Tired of it!

I just hope they don't try and put that tax on me! ;D
