We have this 2015 show heifer that we cannot get bred.  We have tried A'Iing, then pasture exposed bull, had her palpated (after running with bull 2 heat cycles) was cystic (vet took care of this) plus vet said ovaries on one side were immature/underdeveloped but the other side ovaries were perfectly fine and ovulating and used time/sync ai'd breeding with her no luck came into heat again this past week and is out with bull again.  We saw him mounting her in standing heat.  If she comes into heat again,  is there anything else we could try?  Would it be wise to pull her up now and watch, if she comes in heat give another shot of cystorelin and turn her out with bull again or wait and timed/sync AI again?  I know some will say ship her, but before we do this I would like to exhaust all avenues... she has been a really successful show heifer that we don't want to lose.....right now my only cost is shots given and labor.  Thank you for any help!

I wouldn't be breeding a 2015 heifer yet... If she was born in 2014 then I would put her on a decent quality hay only diet with free choice mineral. Make sure she isn't fat and get her condition to where it needs to be.

If she is that high of quality. and you want to try that much, you may find a calving ease embryo and hope she sticks that and see if her tract will mature after she calves.

I had the exact same issue with a heifer this past spring.  One ovary was under developed.  She'd cycle every 21 days like clockwork and the bull would breed her.  She was my top show heifer and never lost a class (of course).

My solution - my coworker's freezer is now full of delicious angus show heifer beef.

Save your effort for the battles you have a chance to win.  Even if you get her to stick eventually, she's probably not going to be very fertile.

I agree she may not make a very good cow long-term, but if your goal is to simply make more show heifers you could do IVF on the side that is fully developed. Keep in mind they may have fertility issues, but that's your call.
