Just looking for any suggestions people might have breeding a couple of my heifers. I am just getting started raising show calves. These two just had their first calves and I am looking to raise calves that are marketable for the show ring. If I stay off of the real clubby bulls I would like to use sexed semen and shoot for heifers. The pictures are not the best but they should give some idea.

The first picture is a Mercedes Benz out of a nice Maine/Angus cow. She is a big and powerful with lots of bone, hair and muscle. If I could change here at all I would want a bull that softened her up just a bit. I had considered MAB on the clubby side but im not sure if he will add to much shoulder. Below is a picture of her no worries heifer calf at a week old.

The second cow is a Ali granddaughter out of a Nutt N Butt Business/Angus cow. She is a little more moderate framed but still stout and good structured. On her I was considering Monopoly or breeding her back to I-80.
The fourth picture is her 1-80 heifer calf from this year.

There are 3 bulls I like the looks of-2 of which are 1-80s 1:Safe and Sound-CE and his calves out of good ones are BARNBURNERS 2: Excel 80-bred alot like Safe and Sound-His full sister was grand champ bred and owned Maintainer@ the National Maine Jr Show- 3: Problem Solved-Ce different breeding-WAY cool looking-would like to more about him. If you are going for purebred or close Maines-there are a bunch of good ones-just make sure they have real depth of rib.O0

Thanks for the reply I appreciate you taking the time to pass along some insights. I am seriously considering using Safe Sound on one of them, Now I just have to decide which one might work the best. Its always a challenge to decide especially when you are just starting out with a few cows. Thanks Again!

Hes a full sib to MAB....MANKIND ET AMAA #466552.....better in his shoulder than MAB. That should ease your worries there....take a look! Available now at Champion Genetics. @Rimpelshowcattle
