I have a yearling herd bull that is destroying gates. He's turned out with cows and has a good disposition but seems like he's bored and wants to play with everything. He completely wrecked one pipe gate that was on hinges and broke the welds of a real heavy permanent gate we built from oil well pipe. He goes after anything I don't have a hot wire in front of but he leaves the mineral feeder alone. Will he mature and grow out of this or will it get worse. I was planning on keeping him at least another year but can't afford to keep replacing gates. Thanks.

I think he sounds like a liability and a nuisance. I don't think bulls go thru stages or grow out of habits like that. I would either get rid of him or be prepared to deal with his behavioral issues.

you may find out what other things are not permanent.  maybe ingenuity has an enhanced epd for that.

When trying pencil out what it costs to keep the bulls over winter to use again the next year, you have to add all the damages...  they are horrible on bale feeders, feed bunks, gates, fence.  Did you know that two mature bulls fighting can take out a 1/4 mile of barbed wire fence?
