Hi to all im new to the site and just getting started in breeding club cattle over the past couple of years I have been buying good heifers and had pretty good luck with AI but my clean up bull is just a angus cross nothing fancy at all. I will be looking for a better clean up bull.I know its the wrong time of year but I guess its never to early to start looking. so does anybody know of good breeders that sell clubby bulls. I live in Colorado so I know I will have to travel. thanks you for reading

I would look into the Bushy Park sales when they have them in the spring. Usually have a very large set of each breed, including clubby. Also they will come from a proven and outstanding program.

Others may have different opinions, but maybe consider buying a bull that is a high percentage of a breed that allows you to register percentage animals (sim, chi, Maine, shorty). That way you always have breed steers or heifer to sell if your AI doesn't stick. That also opens up your options on where to find your bull.

I have a shorty bull calf listed in the classifieds. He needs to be developed more but he would make some great offspring

Go to the National Western. You might find what you are looking for in one of the breed sales, or someone might have what you want for sale private treaty in the yards. We've purchased bulls out of the Chi and Maine sales that worked great for us.

ETA-Wayne and Barb Ohlrichs from Norfolk, NE exhibit in Denver but sell their bulls in their spring bull sale and they would be an excellent program to look at.

Kris Black has bulls for sale all the time.  He has a fall bull sale in Oct. Located in Nw Ok, so relatively close to Co.

One of the best ways to get high quality saleable calves if your cows are good enough is to lease a name bull from Lautner or someone in that business.I don't care how good of a bull you buy people still like ones that are promoted. If your cows have much clubby breeding your odds of successs diminish.A-I is still one of the cheapest investments you can do and also try to match them up for their strengths and weakness.Needless to say but extra bone ,yak hair, and shorter body length are traits that are only appreciated in the show ring.

MIDCONTINENT FARMS WASHINGTON KANSAS-they have developed MYRIAD clubby bulls of many breeds-and probably control over 2000 cows. They are honest-and they ARE PROS-tell Gregg Stewart I said that-he'll raise the price. (lol)Another would be Ward Backenhuse:Columbus Nebraska,-they have diversified into club calves and had as much posistive influence on real world Shorthorns (that also won national shows)as anyone in the last 40 years.  O0
