OK all of you "steer people" . I bought a smokie steer for my daughter to show that is sired by a bull called White Lake. I really don't follow the steer game too much, can anybody tell me anything about him?

He was promoted a few years back.  Full Flush X Kroupa Cow.

Here is a picture.

White Lake is out of Full Flush, out of a Charolais cow.  How is his attitude?  If he is a little zippy, you may want to work really hard on him now and hope his temperament leans on the Charolais side! ;D

Cowz - I haven't really tried doing much with him yet but I would say that he probably has more fire in him than his Dr Who pen mate. He will probably get introduced to my best hired hand "Ben" the spotted jack in a couple of weaks. I thought I would give the two steers a little time to settle before I tried doing much with them as they were weaned on the trailer ride home from Nebraska.

Full flush can add a little attitude and usually are not real fond of having their heads messed with.  My little boy showed a Dr. Who a couple of years ago who was a great calf and a real sweetie, but could get riled up over loud noises.  Good luck with your new calves and keep us posted. ;)

When I was in the custom fitting business I had to deal with several calves of all breeds that had "additudes" - only had to give up on one that wouldn't break so I'm hoping for the best. My daughter is an excellent showman and doesn't mind doing the "homework" to get there so that will help. Time will tell - I'll let you know.

My concern with the White Lake steer would not only be his attitude but also his front end.  Does his toes point forward or does he toe out a bit.

We had a full flush steer last year that didn't look too bad on his front end as a calf, he toed out a little but didn't look too bad.  He was really bad when he reached 1300# and his attitude to put it bluntly sucked.

Hope he turns out well for you.  Keep up posted.
