Looking for a bull to use on commercial cows, mostly angus based cows.  We want a bull that is TH and PHA free.  Although I am sure none of our cows are carriers, I don't want to go there.  Bull also must not be a cow killer.  We will only be breeding him to cows though and no heifers.  The desired outcome of the mating would be show steers.  Breed isn't really a concern so its pretty much a free for all.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank ya

are you looking for a herd bull or an AI sire?
If you are looking for a herd bull, there will be 57 Maine bulls selling at the Ohio Beef Expo next month. Many are clean & most have their EPD's listed.

Oh, sorry, I am looking for an AI sire.  We have about 70 cows, and will only be breeding a handful clubby.  We already have 2 -2yo bulls.

Thanks

Hard core is a relatively easy calver, although I wouldn't use him on heifer because of the bone.

My best bet is to go through the semen catalogs & show publications. Look at what bulls interest you the most. Talk to people about the calves they've had from these bulls. Go to shows & look at cattle you like & find out their sires. Many bull breeders will answer questions if you call or e-mail them.

Ali is a very good heifer bull. But semen is running about $200 a unit. Not sure on Life Line's calving ease. Money Man is a nother good easy calver. Gigolo Joe is reported to be a very easy calver.
