Anyone bought semen in an online sale before?  How does it work for shipping?  Does the seller usually provide the dry shipper or does the buyer?  Is it possible to rent a dry shipper from a certain company?

I have bought plenty online. Most of the time they will provide the shipper , you just pay for it. I've also picked some at a show or sale that I've bought online.

My experience is the same.  I had to pay, but the online seller had a plan for shipping.  I will also admit I called first before I bought to see what my options were.  If you don't own a shipper, I would call.....

Call, some sellers have shippers that you can send and return and some don't.  Another option is catch them at a big show.

Not to hijack the tread but how does the registration work on an embryo in the ASA? What if you buy an embryo 2nd hand how do you get the owners signatures?

ASA being Simmental? If so, you just send in the DNA on the calf when it is born and they verify parentage. That simple. Calf gets paper after the parentage is confirmed. It does not matter where the embryo comes from, no signatures needed.

Yes Shorthorns. Haven't seen a Simmental in years except for at Louisville. All the ones around here have been converted to Angus.
