I just got back in to raising Show Cattle again since my son is now old enough to show. We have a calf that has been coughing off and n for the past couple of weeks. He is still on feed and his temperature seems to be fine as well. I did see a little mucus come out of his nose yesterday but that is it. Any suggestions what to do? Is there an over the counter vaccination I could give him? The vets office is a pretty good haul from where I live but if I need to take him I will

He should be vaccinated for IBR, PI3, BVD, Blackleg, and sometimes some other things.

Since he feels fine, one of the first things I would wonder about is dust - dusty pens, dusty feeds...  that sort of thing.    If that's the case, you would need to do something about the conditions.    The other thing is if he does have just a little bug or infection, I'd probably give him a broad spectrum antibiotic..  Nuflor would be the one I'd choose but you could just make a call to the vet & find out what has been working in your area.

Lungworms can lead to pneumonia.  My vet said he had seen a few cases of that this year.  He suspected the wet Spring has alot to do with the lungworms.  We don't usually see many cases.
