Had a calf born yesterday with stiff tendons right above the front hoof. It is right at the point when he stands up it buckles over. I cant bend it all the way straight, just to the point to where he can stand on the tip toe of his hoof. Thinking about splinting it maybe? any suggestions or ideas appreciated!

Thanks

You can use an old car radiator hose to splint it.  Just cut it lengthwise and slip it over the lower leg and tape it.  Should take a few days and he will lengthen his tendons and get along fine.

over the last 20 years i have seen alot of calves buck over a little when they are first born.  Like they said above the tendons just need to stretch out.    Most come out of it in a week or so.  Most of the ones i have seen have always been really good show cattle.  Really thick with alot of muscle.

I have even seen some buck over with their knees under their chin.  The one i really remember did it till he weighed about 600 lbs.  He was left a bull and was sold as a promotional bull many years ago for alot of money.
