The eyes were not pecked out.  The calf was a little over 2 weeks old.  Taking the hay out, all of the calves were accounted for the night before, then checking everything in the morning he was laying in the pasture field.  I don't know how great of a mother this calves was.  She will be hamburger before too long.
We didn't see any tracks....... pretty sloppy in Ohio, we could have interrupted whatever it was.  I'm thinking it is a coyote.  Tail was completely missing from the scene.

I need to grab the guys from CSI Las Vegas and get to the bottom of it.

Thanks for posting up.

Scavenging, not predation, but I thought dogs went for the rectum, and coyotes ate the guts first?

Domestic Dogs.  Killed for fun, didn't eat much, and went home to alpo.  See quite a bit of it around here.  Any tracks?

You'd be amazed how upset people get when you get rid of them tho...

That's why you don't warn them or say anything, do it discreetly, on your property of course, and never say a word except when they come around be sure and tell them you'll take care of em if you see em
