I sold a calf to some kids and they took the calf last Friday and had his scurs sugically removed one month before they show him.  I would not have done that but be that as it may.  The calf is not eating and they want some advice.  What is your experience with something like this?

I assume that the calf was eating well b4 they had him dehorned, correct? My guess is that the calf has an infection from the dehorning. I think that they should catch a temp and treat with antibiotics accordingly. May need to try some very good quality hay to stimulate his appetite.

We had one surgically dehorned this summer, about a week after the surgery we sold him. He was a puppy dog, my 4 year old could lead him and he ate great. About 2 weeks after we sold him he quit eating and got mean, so mean they couldnt get in the pen with him. He started eating again but never got over being mean. They fed him about another month and had him butchered. When they killed him they looked at his brain and found that his brain was dying. Freak deal, never heard of this before, the guy that did the surgery for us has done a ton of calves for us and we've never had a problem. I guess this is the worst case scenario.
