Bought my daughter steer a few weeks ago. When we picked him up he looked small but was assured he would be big enough by county weigh in.  He now weighs 365 and will need to weigh 450 in the next 30 days. He is eating well and good feed Purina Fitters edge about 12 pounds a day is all he can clean up. Any suggestions on what to do or recommendations would be great. Our show is in May but calfs must wheigh 450 by Nov.

Keep feeding like you are and make sure eats before weigh in. Take water with you to weigh in and hope he drinks a lot before he steps on the scales. Also when you weighed him had he ate or drunk close to that time or had it been a few hours. You might gain a few pounds that way. If he gains 3 lbs a day you shouldn't have a problem making weight. (Which can be done fairly easy) It has been my experience that May calves finish good for September Fairs. You are going to have to push him the whole time. Good Luck

Make sure he drinks plenty, if your feeding him 3 percent of his weight that is 12 pounds a day, so even if he is full of grain and hay that's 15 pounds at best, if he drinks 5 gallons of water that's 40 pounds. If he has 40 pounds of water in him then you are only going to need him to gain about 60 pounds or 2 pounds a day. I would get him used to drinking out of a bucket now, that way when you need him to he should do it with no problem.

Was he full or empty when you got his most recent weight?

Full weighed tonight empty at 357. What about adding a few oz of power fuel per feeding?

357 empty, 5 gallons water, 397, 8 pounds of feed, 405, 2lbs a day, 30 days, 60 pounds
465.
I would just keep feeding on schedule and make sure he stays on track, worst thing that could happen is mess with his feed and he slows down or goes off his feed for a few days.
