Do older bulls tend to have heavier calves than younger bulls?

I presume you refer to weaning weights.

In theory, no.  In practice, most probably, yes.  All the poor breeders get eliminated before they get old!

I think he was talking about birth weights. You'll occasionally run across people who think (have heard) that as bulls age, the birth weights of their offspring increases.  I've literally heard one guy say "I used a yearling bull to ensure low birth weights."  Plain silliness.
