We have a calf that has a temp of 103-104 its been like this for a couple of weeks, called the vet and we are giving shots to slow down the fever but just dosen't do anything. Does anyone know why this is and what i can do i feel so bad i have tried everything the vet told us. The mama cow is getting fed sialge, corn, hay and some grass don't know if that would be why don't think so. Thanks for the help.

You really haven't given the calf anything that would fight an infection. I would have started with sulfa boluses and if that didn't work would have given a antibiotic. I think now that it's been sometime and it seems like the temp is persistant, I would ask the vet for a stronger antibiotic. The temp definitely indicates an infection of some type. The Bantamine and pepto would do virtually nothing to fight an infections. Good luck. Keep us informed please. Brent

I agree with the others that an antibiotic is called for;
we use Baytril injuection + sulfa boluses for baby calves and it seems to clear up most anything here.

good luck.

Went to a new vet today the calf might have an infection in its lungs this causes the hgh temperature urg but if the calf ends up passing away we will examine the calf inside and out to see what was wrong.
