Let me now what you think of my calves. I'm pretty happy with them!

Baldy is a Simple Math X Carnac Bull calf
Brockle face is a Kind Meyer x Jakes Proud Jaz(PB Shorty) - Bull

Look's like your a young member trying to raise and promote your cattle ...You might get a friend or look on internet for some help on your pictures .....I think your cattle are better than your picture show's.... Not trying to be a know it all just trying to help you ....Always have your cattle just like you were showing them, front feet always on higher ground then back feet ....Get their head up as high as you can ....Learn with judging class  on what good cattle are suppose to look like .....Patience and practice aso help a photographer ....Sunlight always behind you ....

I agree on the pictures-but the King Meyer is the best of the 2 today-he looks like he will grow-and be thick. Simms x Shorthorns seem to perform well. O0

I agree with the Simm x Shorthorn cross we have had some calves perform well and finish well out of that cross. Thats the way I am directing our plus program. Here is a pic of a Plus steer we raised out of Ace of Diamonds and a foundation simm.

Thanks for the advice. It's really difficult to get the calves to stand still long enough for me to get my camera out and snap a picture. Camera angles and everything mess with a calf. I do like them and I can't wait to start halter breaking them to take better pictures.

Some of our best females for making both steers and replacements have been half shorthorn half simmi. I have four generations of Simmi Angus line in our herd they stick every year and always have a marketable calf.

When I take candid shots, first remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You can sit on a 5 gallon bucket for hours and get three good shots that represent the best of an animal. Pictures truley do not represent them but its a great way to start. sunday i sat with weaned calves on 5 gallon bucket cup of coffee just to see if I could get any great shots. Attached is one of the best shots I was able to get from the day.
