I am looking into my next semen purchase. I am looking for calving ease but not sacrificing quality. I feel like I need to add length, mass, muscle, and frankly some "pretty" to my cows. My only opposition would be to a charolais, due to calving ease. I'm not too particular in my selection...lol.  I don't care about color or breed otherwise. I can post a pic of the cow I am looking for if anyone wants it. I was thinking wmw but I didn't really want to spend that much on semen. Any ideas are appreciated!

Maybe post the pedigree of the heifer. Or breed of her at least. May help some narrow suggestions.

I posted a similar question. I don't have too much experience with heifers, but I am going purebred angus.  I am looking for good calves of potential replacement quality. I haven'd decided on a bull yet but from most of the post's I  have read the concensious is go with a low bw angus and get a live calf. Idk what the breeding of your heifer is but, mine are about 5/8 angus and one clubby bred but all came small as calves.  I have some cows due to Styles Upgrade and I will see the calves but I have talked to cattleman of the ranch who own him and sounds like they really like the calves and he is good for heifers.

Well, pedigree is pretty much unknown besides she is a Angus x hereford. I highly doubt they were registered stock-long story short this was my free bottle calf with contracted tendons that was most likely a freemartin a couple years ago. But, hey it got me in beef and I wouldn't trade my start for the world. It doesn't have to a "heifer safe" as long as the bull isn't known for throwing 100+ pound calves on a regular basis. This will be her second calf...or third depending on what the vet says here in a week or two. She is a small framed cow so her first breeding I bred lowline just to keep size down-that was a 70# calf.  She isn't pretty by any means but her calf is looking really good for a fall on just a little grain. I will resize a pic and get one uploaded. Whatever you guys think on a matchup would be great. I will do some sim and Maine research and post my ideas. Thanks

This is calve number 2 possible 3. Chill Factor is a great female maker. Dirty Hairy puts little more size into them, not the best hair. I80 really just getting started. I have no experience with 80. I like Macho of the Simm bulls you ahve selected. Made me a few nice females. Meyer 735 is new. Anything duff from my experience is similar to the OCC breeding. They seem to be easier fleshing moderate framed cattle with lotta body.Get a picture up of the cow that always helps.

Long's Shear Pleasure is a Reg. 3/4 Sim that should click well with Angus & Hereford pedigree's. He's got the chrome face and the homozygous black and poll gene. Also has a good CE, BW, and milk score.

How was babe Ruth calving wise or even back to sunseeker? Did you like their calves? Hair doesn't matter for me, I will only show it once or twice at county shows unless it is some phenomenal calf.

Here is a pic of my cow. I will get one of her calf up too. This is from a few months ago, she has put on quite a bit of weight since then...I know she's ugly but you're always proud of your first calf no matter what they are :) she turned 3 today as well.

Here is a pic of her October calf to doc holliday. He has grown a lot since the pic. He is very stout and muscular compared to his momma. I think he is going to be sold since feeder calves are over $2 a pound this week near me.
