Calving Ease Shorthorn Bull?

I may be a bit partial, seeing I bred and own the bull, but HC FL Touchdown 123T ET is definitely a calving ease bull whose calves are moderate framed, and thick made. They also have lots of style and good hair. He is available through CattleVisions, Genex, and SEK Genetic Horizons in the US. As a bonus, his first daughters have calved and they have near perfect udders with lots of milk. It certainly looks like they are going to make great momma cows. We have several Touchdown sons working in commerical herds and so far, no one has reported any calving issues.

Here is a picture of Touchdown as a 3 year old after he had bred about 30 females. He comes in from pasture in better shape than he goes out. Also a picture of a Touchdown bull calf at 85 days of age.

Try Homedale Creole 135 through Genex. I believe he is $20/straw, his sire GFS Creole recently sold some straws at $500/straw at a sale in Michigan I believe. Definitely will moderate and add hair to your calves and will produce some nice heifers. There is an add on him in the July herd bull issue of Shorthorn Country. I also have a pasture photo from this summer with him during breeding season with about 20 heifers. I could post it on our website if you would like.

At 9 months old in Denver he had these stats: 890 pounds, 13.9 REA, 1.56 REA/cwt

Sorry I don't see the front end problem on 329. We can agree to disagree. CO calves can be short necked to. Does this make them of no good ?

Honest customer feed back Brock . that's all. Like I said neither bull was developed for a show pen.

I've never seen 329's dam in person. I have only went by what you and a few others have said. It's amazing. She went from being in the top 3 or so of his best cows to now no good because she is heavy fronted. I get what's going on. His semen sales sucked. I sucked. Bury the bull and move on to the next hit one and promote him. Nature of the beast. I get it. No hard feelings.

We are using Bellringer AI and cleaning up with Elbee Throw back. Bell ringer has sired a couple winners for the Vogles and our calves from Throwback have been extremely easy calving.

Pointing out strengths and honest customer feed back does not bury anything. relax . This is a club calf guy asking about hair and show?

ALM Chiller
Will moderate, clean fronted, hairy, and pretty decent birthweights on first calf heifers, but not fool proof like a few of the other bulls mentioned.

I would check with OCC. they were breeding some bulls they felt could work as good as Jazz. There are a few relatives in the SEK catalog as well. That blood line is pretty moderate but easy fleshing.

Our touchdown calves here have been stout, lots of quarter, and came into the world very easy, they are hairy little buggers as well

Nope! It makes 'em worth using to add functionality back to multiple-generations of selection for "eye appeal". Personally, I look for a "bit" of brisket, wrinkles on the side of their face, as well as......adequate wrinkling, etc of a heifer's vulva. I've seen too many heifers that look like a weaned ewe-lamb under the tail.That's as unnattractive to me as a bull with scrotal abnormalities.
