We decided to calve a few heifers early to get it over with.  Was very excited when 9 out of 13 heifers stuck AI for me.  The Sand ranch hand calves and an Amigo are all already on the ground and doing great, between 50-80 lb birth weights and vigorous babies that got up and sucked.  After having mostly ranch hand so far, I was getting impatient for the one Built Right and the one Trailbalzer to arrive.  Well, the Built Right came early this morining.  Hard pull, 103# heifer calf thats so weak on its back legs it cant stand without help.  I'm not complaining, we all know even the best plans with the right bull don't always work out but it is heartbreaking.  Now fingers crossed that the Trailblazer calf will be amazing.

Wow, a 103lb Built Right? What is the pedigree of the heifer? I have used Built Right on a clubby Heat Wave heifer 2 years ago and got a 60lb heifer that she calved with ease and on other heifers. I am very happy with Built Right and will not hesitate to use again even on clubby heifers. Built Right has worked nice for me, showing a really nice Built Right heifer out of a Maine/Angus heifer this month at the NWSS in the percentage Simmental show. I hope your Built Right heifer pulls through, if she is not up and sucking, keep her warm and I would drench her with some colostrum and get a vet out, good luck.

This is first time I've used Built Right but I was shocked, to the point I almost wonder if the straw was right.  But the closest thing I have to any clubby semen in my tank would be Limestone Trifecta or Chill Factor, those still shouldnt be monsters.  The heifer is a commercial sim/angus that has Mo Better in her background.  Calf has been given clostrum and vet says may have some spine damage from being hip locked, hopefully comes out of it. Also gave shot of dexamethasone.

Congrats on the AI success..,and good luck with the Built Right daughter.  Our Built Right's averaged under 80#

103# heifer is big, regardless of the sire.  Our biggest calf this Fall was a 110# bull calf, born to a heifer.  She pinched a nerve and was down two days...she's fine now but we lost the calf even after giving colostrum.

Hope your's comes along ok.
