I am curious.. I live in the US and if I were to buy a Reg. Angus female in Canada could I register her calves with the American Angus Association?

Also what all hoops would I have to go through to bring her across the border?

Depends on what state you are bringing them into.  Most are similar as far as requirements.  Easiest thing to do is call you state vet and tell them what you are planning on doing.  Once you have that info, you can give it to the party you are buying from.

Health requirements are simple, and most reputable breeders will be able to get the animals ready to ship.

Crossing the border can be interesting.  It is not hard, but unfortunately our Govt employees are not very well informed on the procedures.
Talking to the US Federal vet at the port of entry prior to crossing the border can be very helpful.

On a straight black pedigree registering in the AAA herdbook would be no problem.  In Canada red and black Angus are in the same herdbook and a small percentage of the blacks have red cattle up close in the pedigree and I am not sure if the AAA allows these cattle into the herdbook.

With regards to the requirements to import your best bet is to contact your state veterinarian office and the should be able to tell you what is required as it varies a bit from state to state.  Does Missouri still require females to be calfhood vaccinated for brucellosis?  If so this could pose a problem on any older heifers or cows past the age that vaccination is allowed as very few are likely to be done.

vcsf is correct, there can be no red in the pedigree, I believe it's 6 generations back to be able to get American papers.
