Very proud of Katie Elmhirst on her achievements this past weekend at the Canadian Junior Nationals. Champion Show person and then Grand Champion Female with WERNACRES LUCY 704E. We purchased this female last fall in Wernacres online fall sale and couldn't be happier with how she has progressed. Wernacres has a full sister in this years sale which looks to be as good if not better. I told Dale when I purchased Lucy's mother for them @ the Sun Country Sale from Grant Alexander that she would out produce herself and she has. She is sired by Big Daddy Jazz which seems to have clicked with her Timeline dam. Thanks Dale and Ryan for allowing us to campaign this female in Canada.

Shes a real nice heifer I saw her last fall-Dale liked her about the best and she had the most performance of about anything there-and thats saying something.Shes pictured milling around in the rain I think that they HAVE BEEN some of the best shorthorn cattle for the money in the US for at least the last 30-40 years.. I have taken the liberty of posting the very recent Grand Champion Shorthorn female-and Reserve Supreme overall at the Wisconsin State Fair-I cant remember-she may have been an Express BUT WAIT THERES MORE- not one but 2 more and counting-There was a Mercedes Benz x Shorthorn that I still maintain (no pun) is one of the best Ive seen of that mating-not clubby JUST POWERFULL and stylish-She was just supreme overal at a tuff county deal-And Ryans daughter-who had supreme overall at their fair with a red purebred heifer. THESE ARE SOME REALLY GOOD CATTLE-Horton in ILL and Lehman in Wisconsin too-I really think buyers looking for cattle that compete NATIONALLY-and can make great cows need to look here. There were also a number of others in this sale at the same levels of quality O0

Thanks Mark. We really liked her when we first saw her and I really liked her mother when I bought her for Dale at the Sun Country Sale. There is a tremendous amount
of maternal quality in her with her grandmother being the Shamrock Lucy cow at Grant's. That old female was big bodied and structurally sound with a tremendous udder even when she was getting long in the tooth. One of my favorite cows at Horseshoe Creek. I went through the calves with Ryan and Dale a month ago and I think this years set is better than last year.

I haven't seen this heifer yet, but I have heard from several people that she is pretty good. I will see her in a few weeks at some of the fall shows. I was pretty sure her dam would produce some good ones and it appears that she is doing just that!  Her grandmother, Shamrock Lucy was also one of my favorites in our herd, as she was a tank who raised her calves and rebred and stayed in the same condition in all conditions. She went through some pretty serious droughts here and always looked the same. I am flushing a daughter of her next week ( HC Lucy 21Y)and hopefully we can get some embryos from a few sires to continue this line from. Lucy 21Y was purchased by Martyn Moore in England, in our sale last fall,  and I bought an interest back in her this spring, so I could also get in on flushing her.
Congratulations to Katie Elmhurst, and also to Jim Murray for bringing this female back to Canada.
