I was wondering what everyone is using for their mix for a steer that is going into a carcass contest.

Right now I am using : 500# corn, 100# purina accuration, and 25# liquid molasses.  I was having a problem w/ the steer wanting to eat, so I added the molasses and had it ground up coarse to get rid of the fines that kept accumulating.

Is there anything else I should try to get him to eat a little bit more by adding to this mix?  I know w/ the accuration that I will need to cut it back as I get closer to the finish date.

I thought about implanting him, but after doing some research you lose marbling when you implant.

Thanks in advance.

The contest is based on the best hanging carcass.  Wondering if my mix is good and what I need to add to get him to weigh more.  He is roughly 900# and the show is in July.
