I am looking for a record keeping program for an ipad that  will also work with my laptop.  I would like to be able to take the Ipad to the pasture with me and make notes and record updates and then sync info with my laptop.  Is there anything like this out there?  I am really trying to justify getting an Ipad, lol.

I would say CattleMax Online would work if your IPAD has internet access while at the pasture. It is cloud based so data is stored online so you could access it at either as long as connected to internet.

I have looked for the same thing and come up with nothing, cattlemax online is really the best option. I love it! I use it on my laptop, iPad and iPhone. If you have a smart phone it is definitely the way to go because any of your devices can access your information as long as they have Internet. Plus it doesn't use any memory on your devices! Ik it doesn't justify getting an iPad but it may justify getting an iPhone? Or if you anted to pay the extra money for an iPad with cellular capabilities and the extra on your cell plan you could do that.

I was just talking to the kid in our shop the other day, he is taking classes for designing apps. I told him he needed to design an app that you could use for calving, doctoring or any other activity and then be able to down load it to your home computer, who knows if no one designs an app before he is done with his class he might be able to design one.

For calving I think you would want fields for Cow#, Date, calf sex, weight, twins, type of birth (Easy, hard, pull, C) any other ideas?

I'm using 'Herd- Animal and Livestock Management' app on my iPhone right now.  Just have the initial free version to test it (limited number of animals) but you can input all your individual animals, different herds (commercial/purebred management, etc.) pastures, medication, and individual breeding/calving dates.  I don't know if its compatible with a regular computer tho.  I haven't upgraded to the full app yet, but likely will soon. I think with the full app you can input EPD's as well.  Seems like the tech-tool we've all been searching for! It's not online it stores info on the iphone/ipad so would work out in pastures with no internet connection.

I posted a similar question month or 2 ago.  Cattle max was the consistent reply but I'm still using pen and paper.  There are great weather, feed ration calculator  and market apps you can use to justify the Ipad purchase too!

I downloaded the app "document" allows you to put all the information you want to use in and is really easy to use i thought.
