show circuit is a good one- mostly club calf oriented.
angus journal is one of the best, as well as the red angus publication...
there was a 'newer' type magazine geared for juniors that I picked up at L'ville.. Something about the Show Times???  It might get my dollars for a year subscription

If there were a worst.. it would fall under the Shorthorn Country...

My favorite is Working Ranch. Some others I like are Drovers and Beef (put out by NCBA).

Definitely DRIVE magazine. Awesome magazine with really good articles. Covers cattle, hogs, sheep and goats.

I personally enjoy the Shorthorn Country, but that is my opinion. The Canadian Shorthorn Report is also a good.

Just curious. Why is Shorthorn Country so bad?

every issue, is exactly the same-
every indiviual farm's ad- 3/4 of the time shows a colliage of pictures from people who were attending their sale- and a list of their buyers- not a single picture of a bull, calf, or heifer.
every farm ad, is in the exact same sequence...
In the fall time, each ad shows 15 picture of heifer calves that will be selling- and only half of them have a pedigree, or atleast a sire.
1/2 of nearly every issue is show results from showwhere- what a waste of space.
Are there any educational editorials?  I don't think I've read or seen a single one in the couple of years we've subscribed.
The only thing that comes close to having something worth reading and learning from- is the ASA staff, president, and junior articles.. and most of the time what a waste...  Congrats to this person for winning this (which I already read from somewhere else in the mag), congrats to this, look for shorthorns at this sale, thank for you electing me bla bla bla typical officer articles.
The most interesting thing, in any and every magaizine, is the spotlight article about one particular thing, whether it is a farm, a family, or in the instance of that girl who spent a summer in Africa.

There was one issue this summer, that I picked up from somebody, that was atypical and worth getting...  I forget which it was.. but since, I've seen two that were back to same ole same ole... just dull, and bland...

o expound further, even though I don't really consider myself a club calf type person.. I'd rather subscribe to the SC, from the stanpoint of creative ad designs/ layouts, and atleast one educational oriented article in every issue...
