Didn't think I needed anything except my little notebook. Then I tried Cattlemax software and I was super impressed. I am now a monthly subscriber.

We also use CattleMax.  It is wonderful and VERY reasonable.  I would highly recommend it .

With Cattlemax if you stop subscribing every month do you lose all of your info or are you still able to go in and get it?

I think you would have to download it to something before you quit subscribing. I haven't done any of the online classes that they give, but I'm impressed with all the things it can do that I have found on my on.

Wish it was available in a not online version.

That's what I think is one of it's biggest features. That you can update on say on your laptop and then they will be on your Ipad and your smart phone.

Not sure if it is because ours was purchased in 2005, but ours is a stand-alone system. Bought the software, set it up and started using it. We can't interface with our breed association (NALF), but that really hasn't been an issue for us to date. I love it and would recommend it to anyone in the industry!

CattleAssistant.com is a cheaper alternative to CattleMaxx and designed more for smaller farms. We built in a free month trial with the yearly subscription ($30). Plus it houses all the info for anything in your nitrogen tanks and the calendars auto-populate estimated dates for calving. We are still considered a start up and would appreciate any views on our site or facebook page.
