Anyone else read the proposed changes to the way cattle will be registered and classified in the future?  If I’m reading it correctly they’re going to issue fractions based on percentages and numbers of parents previously registered. And it looks as though they may have two separate herd books. They put an article in the last Chi Journal about the proposed changes.

It looks like composite and full Italian breeding. To be a composite purebred it looks like 12.5. % Italian full blood and two generations of registered parents. Full bloods like like they’ll work like the other full blood continental breeds.

my feeling is fullblood DNA parentage back to x date has tier 1 status (not necessarily tier 1 utility)
fullblood with one parent and other parent a fullblood by parentage
fullblood but not verified
followed by various dilutions

this is important so dna can be used at some point in the future to see where things came from, where they are etc. only with verified parentage can one truly represent what is there.

there are probably less than 100 fullblood parentage verified chi females in the US if any.
