Seems tthat heifers with chrome are a hot commodity when sold as calves but I see very few donor cows that are chromed up. Any idea why that is?

There are some blaze and bald face donors out there now and more on the way.  A lot of these young heifers you see out there just need time to be proven.  Jones Show Cattle in OH have some nice baldy donors that are starting to roll out some really fancy progeny.  Guyer in IN, Sunset View Farms in KY, Sloup in NE all have baldy donors out there that are very popular or growing in popularity.

In May Pine Ridge Simmentals in GA sold EBS Ebonys Mavis for $14,500.  We bought embryos out of her and look forward to those calves.

Anyway, I think there are some chrome faced donors out there but I think we will certainly see more in the future as some of these sale toppers get proven.

Sur depernds on what part of the country you are in as to how acceptable the chromed up bodied calves are. Every part of the country loves a bald or brockle faced calf.

I agree.  Those females I mentioned are working great, but there are some pedigrees that throw too much chrome that doesn't help them after they age out of the show ring.
