Last night we put a CIDR into a cow that might be right at 30 days bred. It was a mistake and now I am not sure if it can hurt her possible pregnancy when we pull it tonight. Thanks for any help/ advise.

Should be no problem as the hormone in cidrs is progesterone and that is the same hormone that keeps the cow pregnant.

Pull immediately (why wait until tonight?) but it should not affect her pregnancy.

Not everyone lives with thier cows, and some even have a town or 9 to 5 job or he may have to wait for help to get them in, maybe there is a reason that he cant be back to the cows till later. Go easy and don't jump to the conclusion that he is not doing all he can with what he has. There must be a reason why he couldn't do it until later.

We routinely put CIDRs in cows when we put embryos in and pull them two weeks later.  If the cow has a subpar CL it helps elevate her progesterone levels and increase the likelihood of her maintaining the pregnancy.  I know some ET guys say there's no need to do it, but it seems to work here anyway. It won't hurt your cow at all.

I had heard about doing this and really thought about trying it. With the price of embryos it seems like cheep insurance.

Good topic!
