good morning. I haven't used cidrs before and I am planning on putting a couple in soon.  My question is does it matter at what stage a cow is in on a heat cycle or will the cidr restart it at any time. I think i missed a heat on a cow a couple days ago because I was not around but not sure. So I was wondering if I need to wait to put one in or no just go ahead and insert it.

Thanks for any help!

We have started a cidr protocol on cattle at every stage and consistently get and shoot for 70+% of those to have good heats regardless of whether they're at in their cycles previously

If you missed a heat, I'd give give a shot of lute or estrumate 7 days later.  If you are doing a couple, I'd put a cidr in w a shot of gnrh as day 0.  On day 5, I would pull the cidr and give 2 doses of lute or estrumate.  Breed them at 12 hours after they stand with a shot of gnrh or just breed them all @ 72hrs w a shot of gnrh.
