In many cases a Short will breed alot better on cross or other breed  cows than on purebred shorts-just look at the Short X breds on various sales:both clubby-and performance-native etc-LIKE-:Jungles,Galbreath,Loving,JMDC,etc..If you need any help on where to find one-plug in the traits-and I;ll do my best. TO ME-the ideal bull would be a Short-Simm cross bull-I dont think very many people have paid attention to just how good this cross is.Good time to ask on-line if anyone has one.Dependent upon where you are located JTM or Ryan Chandler on here might have one -they have good cows and cross Shorts-they are in Ohio O0

Simmental X Shorthorn is outstanding.  When my daughters were showing steers, we had 3 of the 6 out for champion at a very large county fair, over 150 steers.  All were home raised Sim X Shorthorns.  The females were hard to beat for mother cows, too.

I have never put much thought into short x sim but I defiantly like the sound of it now the hard part finding one that won't brake the bank and throw a 150 pound calf

Wanna see an example in type of what would work? With a 75 pound BW?-look 1-2 threads down at "Capiche calf-steer or bull?" There are alot of Shorts out that ARE NOT cow killers-but that outdo themselves when bred to simm-chars-angus et-al "mutts:".They just arent show cattle-or in the clique. The dam of that calf is a commercial x bred-but would look good in anyones field.
