I 100% agree and add to that by saying that a person could bred their cows to a showier type simmi bull or commercially bred Maine bull and keep the heifers as replacements. These females can make very good club calf mommas.JTM said:I would say no, but you really just have to ask yourself what am I looking for in my commercial production offspring? You have to remember that most "club calf" bulls were bred for specific attributes and very few of which are favorable in a commercial operation. A commercial operation needs live calves first so you will need a bull that sires calves with great vigor at birth, smaller bone at birth, and not huge birthweights. Then from their you consider growth and that is only considering you will sell all of the calves as feeders... If you want to do anything else commercially with the offspring you really want to steer very clear of club calf genetics in my opinion.
