Heatwave produces good loooking heifers, but not good mothers. My brother has a 4 and a half year old cow he showed out of heatwave. She did pretty well in the ring and produces good looking calves but she doesn't produce any milk for them. We're flushing her then she's off to the sale barn. We also have a first time calving cow due Saturday and she doesn't have much milk either.

Quite honestly, it's too early to tell for sure about Paddy & SS, but from what few that I have seen of the SS's, they look like they may be able to be mommas. Just the 2nd round of Paddy's will be calving next spring I believe. I haven't personally seen any Paddy's, but will be calving one here next spring. My experience with HW's has not been good with the exception of one that was out of a hard milking 1/2 SM cow. I sold one today and bred the other to Wilson B/C I think that could click well and if it does, we are thinking of flushing her and then canning her. Don't really know if it's even smart thinking those thoughts, but you'll have to forgive me please, it's that damn club calf crap coming from inside my head. If you're thinking momma cows there are 1000s of better choices than these clubbie bulls to make cows out of. JMO.
