Have a Double leader daughter that I am thinking about breeding clubby.  She is a bigger cow.  Not wanting something that is a larger bw type bull.  Kinda lookin at Eye Candy or who or alias.  any sugestions?  Pict is her and her daughter last year.

The Eye Candy/SH cross has been very effective.  We have had a couple of great ones with that mix.

See SKF's post on Walks Alone Shorthorn heifer, it should help you with your decision.

The best heifer I saw in the 2011 sale season was a walks alone on a shorthorn at Brian Goettomoellers

He will throw color. I had a red steer out of him this past spring out of a black simmix cow.

We had a Walks Alone x Angus heifer that is the best "breeding heifer" prospect we have had. Deep, square and sound.

So Davis, why do you want her bred clubby? Is she a top producer or not working in the purebred deal. What have her calves done in the past? Might help in selection choices if we know a bit more.

She is right on as far as height and still growing good.....that also might be because her mom is a larger framed Angus...

Not sure about color...can't imagine you won't get color out of that cow...I'd say stay tried and true; Eye Candy.  He's consistent and produces great heifers.  Steers are nice too.  Only seen a few Walks Alone calves.  They are awesome to look at.  I've never seen a mature one.  I can only imagine it's because the never get big enough.  The calves I've seen all have short cannon bones.  Not to offend anyone, I've just not seen any of his calves mature out.  I could very well be wrong.  But when the distance from the calf's (one being shown mind you) center of it's knee to the center of it's ankle can be measured using your thumb and forefinger, I can't see much growth.  Again, I've only seen prospects and I'll admit there hot,  Sorry guys.  ???

WalksAlone Heifer...

Read the entire forum...

I'm not the only one who thinks they're too small...

Every one is looking for thr next big thing.  Eye Candy may be old but IMO he's more proven.  For that matter, if your cows larger framed and materal in her make up why not do the obvious; Heat Wave; bull or heifer you could come out big.
