Many bulls can produce live sperm at that time but the motility and density is usually poor.

I tried one this winter at 11 1/2 months. (Real age, not modified for show or other nefarious purposes)      We tried to collect him with an AV, but the bull would not extend into it(he had never bred anything and had no clue).  I chose not to try the rectal probe at that time.  (Not on me, on the bull) ;D

He did produce some semen that had live sperm but also produced a LOT of dead sperm.  Technician said he need to breed a cow to clean out the pipes.

End of story is that they could have packaged a few units, but I felt it was not worth the trouble and expense.

I would get him semen checked first. At least then you will know if he is producing viable sperm. Even then some of the young bulls I have seen collected have trouble getting any frozen. Good luck!

Had a 10 month old purebred Simmy collect at barely 10 months last year, they were even able to sex it. Dozen calves on the ground before he's two should really help promote him. Excited to have him standing at denver with 3 daughters next to him! On another note just had one that has volume but won't make it through freeze as a yearling. In the last two weeks brought him home and he's bred 5, going to collect him Monday and see if it did the trick

I had him checked this week to clean out the pipes and make sure he was producing. Vet said he looked really good. Hopefully he will freeze some
