I fitted this leg this weekend and was just wondering what everyone thought of it. I'm not a pro by any means and it's probably one of the best legs that I've ever done but I'm always looking to get better so any comments are welcome.

I do realize that this steer needs his hooves trimmed. The owner said that his feet would be done before the next show.

I'm not sure why the photo is posting horizontally. It shows up correctly in the preview and then wrong in the actual post. If anyone knows how to turn it that would be great.

The back of the leg could be straighter  and more verticalfrom what I can tell and the front looks like and obtuse angle you want to to arc like a banana and where it transitions from black to white it almost looks fake or un natural ( not really sure how to describe it)
It's a good leg very full throughout I'm not sure what you had to work with before you started clipping so it's possible this leg is almost at it's full potential
Keep practicing

Agreed.  The back side needs to be a fair bit straighter.  Tighter to the hock and straighter to the pastern.  I think the whole leg needs the hair shortened just a bit to look more full/solid.  That being said it's a pretty darn good job.  I wouldn't fire you! lol

You pull the hair and fit the leg to make it look bigger and uniform so make sure that's your goal when clipping
If you leave to much after fitting it makes it look off set to a smaller foot and you are basically pointing out a flaw in the calf

Thanks for the comments! I'll be fitting this steer again in mid April so we'll see how that goes. I think the hoof trimming will make it a little easier to get the correct angles.
