I'm thinking about upgrading some of my lot fences to continuous fence. I've seen a few ads in the area on craigslist.  I was just wondering what the going rate is for 20' continuous fence panels?  I really don't know much about this type of fence.  Any recommendations on # of bars/uprights?  I think 5 would be the minimum and would be good enough for the money.  I can't get into a lot of money - just enough to fix up a couple of decent size lots.  Do they come painted or do you have to do that yourself?  Thanks for your help!

We get the 6 bar sections that are 20 feet long and unpainted. Around here they are running about $93.00 a pannel. Initial cost is high but it is cheap fence in the long run. RW

I get mine at Crow Valley Panels in Briggsdale CO.  The 5-bar ones are 48" with about 10-11" between bars.  I usually plant 8' drill stem pipes for posts and weld the panels to the posts 12" off the ground to make a 5' high fence.  Even the wild ones don't tear these down.  The panels run around $80-85 (20' sections) and the posts for 2.875" drill stem are something like $1.35 per foot.  Best thing is horses don't eat them.

Thanks so much for the recommendations. Is it hard to get them painted if you buy them unpainted?  Do you have to treat them with anything? Anyone else?

Painting looks like too much work.  Mine have a very attractive "brown patina."
