A few folks had earlier inquired about the "Cool bot" for use in cool rooms.  It is a device developed for small produce farmers to convert standard room air conditioners into super coolers.  I ordered one ($300.00) and have had it in use for about a week now.  My room temp has dropped from a prior 67 degrees to high 40's / 50 degrees using the Cool bot.  My room is 15 X 11, with 4 inch foam insulation and an 8.5 foot ceiling.  The air conditioner is a Samsung 18,000 btu unit from Lowes.

I'd highly recommend the device.

I have an 18,000 btu conditioner(Samsung)  with the cool bot.  The web site gives a lot of really good (and accurate) info on questions like insulation, room size, air conditioners to use etc.

With an air conditioner alone I don't think you can get much below 65 degrees no matter the room size or insulation.  With the device, we have had the room at 48 degrees on 90 degree days.

Details:

Two feeder calves in a 15 X 12 room

4 inch foam insulation on walls and ceiling - with all seams caulked or foamed (room is basically air tight)

I made a door using 4 inch foam sandwiched between pressboard.

I used a bathroom vent fan, two dryer vent flappers, and a cycle timer to make my own fresh air system, and it works great.

The room is built inside my barn, with the top used as a hay mow.  I also made an indoor wash rack, with the air conditioner sticking out from an inside wall of the cool room to drain into the concrete wash rack floor.

My total cost for the room was about  $1400.00, including the air conditioner and Cool Bot.

Now guys, I'm a Chevy guy, but I would have to admit, that my Ultimate Power Train would have to be a Cummins with the Allison, even though I love our 2 duramaxs.  (lol)

WBar Farm:  Lowes has 2 inch 4 X 8 sheets for $25.00.  You have to double them, as 2 inches will not be enough.

Also,  sometimes you can get slightly damaged 4 inch panels from a log home supply company or dealer.  These panels are used in the roofs of log homes.

Now your talking!!! Thats exactly what I want but It has to be thrown in a Ford, Fords are what last the longest around her, Body Wise, Dodges fall apart when used as a farm truck bouncing across sprinkler tracts, and pastures, and duramax just do not even begin to last out here. But I would have to say we are deffinatly the hardest on trucks!!
