My daughter has a headliner steer that is the best we ever had, I noticed that his outside hoof on the front feet is really starting to turn in. I got ahold of a hoof trimmer and he called it cork screwing. He does a lot of trimming itsounds like but I am nervous about him working on this steer he still walks great. I think I have caught it in time to straighten out I hope. Is there any pointers of how or what way to tryto fix this problem?

i would get his hooves trimmed .he might walk now but if you let it keep going he might not . along with maybe keeping them trimmed nice until your done showing ! just find someone that knows what they are doing . they might suggest doing a new trimmings to get it straightened out .

No. See below Jody.

Corkscrew hoof or claw is a hereditary condition in cattle. It affects the hind claws on cows under the age of 4. The outside wall of the outside claw grows faster than the inside wall. This causes the claw to curl in a corkscrew shape. The animal is then becomes lame. Identifying corkscrew hoof early

Corkscrew claw is a screw like rotation of the tip of the claw in an upward and inward direction which is caused by abnormal growth of horny tissue of hoof. The sole of the claw becomes oblique and a cow's weight is consequently born on the outer wall of the claw
