Was reading an article that over 50% of American consumers are concerned about GMOs (genetically modified organisms), yet when they are ask to describe what a GMO is they really don't know how.

GMO is defined by USDA as “the production of heritable improvements in plants or animals for specific uses, via either genetic engineering or other more traditional methods.”

It goes on to say that in 2002 only 10% of the people had concerns about GMOs.  Today that has grown to over 20% and continues to grow.

If you look at the definition according to USDA, then even crossbred animals are a GMO.

Where will this end?

Not to mention selecting gmo humans, repaired embryos, embryo selection and other things. I really don't see the difference between redistribution of wealth and gmo. They both are "unnatural" but we do them anyway.

The fifty percent are the same ones who think global warming is making the snow fall.  They have been led to believe that the only way something is modified is by being on the receiving end of nuclear bombardment.  I am not real sure you could convince them of any thing else,  it is just a way to cause concern their diet is not safe.  The raw milk debate is another one of their big gripes,

This bunch would rather see people hungry than admit a piece of cow or a glass of milk might make an empty belly growl a lot less.

That is part of the problem.  They are using emotion to make a decision that they don't know what they are deciding on.

They don't care what the science says or shows or even care about the truth.
